My cousin Justin Osmond has an amazing story to tell; he was born hard of hearing into a singing family and throughout his life he has had many challenges that he has overcome.

Hearing with My Heart is Justin's book he wrote to tells his story of achieving his dreams despite the obstacles he has had.

I got the honor of photographing Justin for images to put in this book. He also asked me to put the book design together and after the long process we got the book finalized and is now out on the shelves. Here is a peek at the book design and some of the images that we took. Enjoy.

Daxton Made the Headlines!

I know this has nothing to do with Photography but I had to post this article about my boy Daxton. My wife already posted so this is what she wrote...

Have you ever heard of the National Enquirer? Have you ever picked one up while standing in line at the grocery store? Well if you have, please keep this in mind that most of the things you will see and read are most likely false. The National Enquirer will take any story from an "insider" whether true or false. Most of the time the stories have some truth, but the rest is blown out of proportion.
With that background I now have the privilege(should I say :)) of saying that Daxton made it into the National Enquirer along with Whitney Houston, Kristen Stewart, Reese Witherspoon... yada yada yada. We had a good laugh when we read this article and you will too if you know the real story. Read below to find out what was said about Daxton and his struggle for survival.

Donny Osmond faced a frantic family crisis recently as his infant grandchild nearly died, the ENQUIRER had learned exclusively. As the life-or-death drama unfolded, Donny flew from Las Vegas - where he's been watching over his distraught sister Marie- to Utah, where his third Grandchild was struggling to stay alive. Donny's son photographer Brandon Osmond called his father in a panic because his wife Shelby was having difficulty with her pregnancy in mid-June.

On three separate occasions, Shelby was rushed to the Alta View Hospital in Sandy, Utah, Suffering from severe labor pains. She was send home the first two times after the pain eased and labor stopped progressing. But the third time, Brandon worried about the slow progress and his wife's intense pain insisted that she stay in the hospital. "Brandon's voice was trembling with fear," said a family insider. "He called his dad and told him, 'The baby's not coming out like it should- please get here fast.'"

Donny, who performs in a Las Vegas production with Marie, immediately flew to Utah, although he was worried to leave his sister, even for a short time. Marie has been deeply distraught since her son Michael leapt to his death in Los Angeles in February.

As the ENQUIRER has reported, the Osmond family has been so concerned about her mental health, they've considered having her leave the show to get treatment at a mental hospital. "HIS GRANDSON WAS IN TROUBLEso Donny had to go," said the insider. "He was feeling the pressure of being pulled in both directions- and trying his best to help out."

At midnight on June 18th, little Daxton Michael Osmond was born, he was having problems breathing. The infant was taken to neonatal intensive care unit as the Osmonds prayed for him to pull through.

After three nights, the baby began to nurse and breathe properly, and was able to go home. Throughout the crisis, Donny shuttled back and forth between his grandson's bedside and Marie in Vegas. Little Daxton is now expected to make a full recovery, and Marie has also been doing better recently. "Donny was a solid rock throughout the ordeal," added the insider.

So there you have it. The drama coming from this insider. It looks like they got some truth but overall we had a good laugh. :)

Shelby is due... tomorrow, we had some fun taking pictures before the baby comes. It was a lot harder than I thought to persuade her into doing some pregnancy pictures, but after the results she thanked me :) Anyway, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Uncle Jay's New Book

Jay called me in a rush for some pictures this last week. He was in a crunch to get a good photo for his book coming out in a little while. so we went to a studio and spent about 2 hours and came up with a good handful of images to pull from. This picture was the choice for the front cover. What do you think?

Barbara, just before Christmas, stumbled across my blog as she was looking for other things online. She emailed me and just commented on some of the photos my blog and I responded and thanked her for her nice comments on my photos. Later, I got another email back about her doing a photo shoot with me and she said that either I could fly to Texas or she would fly to Utah. I really thought she was just gonna let it go and go with a local photographer cause it was kind of far fetched... Then a couple days later she had booked a flight to Utah for the photo shoot.

Barbara came into Salt Lake City and we met up with her and had a great time, we even gave her a little tour of Salt Lake during the photo shoot.

Time Lapse Videos

So this is a new thing that I'm trying and learning how to do... the idea behind a time lapse is for us to see movement of action that is happening so slow that you might not even see it change such as a flower opening and closing or in this case a bridge being put into place in a 12 hour period, yes I was there for a 12 hour period 6 hour in the afternoon and 6 at night. I didn't end up leaving till around 4:30 in the morning. I know it sounds crazy and but it was a test and I guess it worked because 3 of the local news stations picked it up for coverage on the subject.

Chris is going on a mission... Part II

This is just for a tribute to Chris and his decision to go on an LDS mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He just turned in his papers to find out where the Lord would have him go... and we're all awaiting the news of when and where he will be serving. Man its been awhile but I am back and alive... its been awhile since I've posted because of the busy life of school and going out of town. This is a photo of one of the last wedding shoots I did, and as I was editing it I really started to like it a lot... So I figured that I would share it. This is on the steps up to the doors to the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple. The door knobs on this building are the original from when it was completed in 1893... you can do the math. And the happy couple are Angelle and Nate Brown.

A couple of weeks ago I was able to go down to Vegas and shoot the new photos that will be on donny.com for my father. To be honest I was quite frightened and nervous that I was the only photographer and that he was solely going to use just the photo that I had created for his publicity. I thought that this was a lot of pressure to put on a photographer that is still going to school and learning the ropes, but as the shoot went on through the day I was starting to feel a little more comfortable and excited about what was happening... I'm very excited with the outcome of the shoot and I think that this will be a start of what I hope to continue pursue.

Well I talked to the boss and asked him if it is ok to have some photos up on my blog and he said that I could. So here they are... consider yourself lucky, you might be the first to see them...

Chris Graduates High School

I never thought that people would be interested in the photo behind the logo but I've had several people ask about it and even try to analyze it from the small amount of information that is given in that space. So I was thinking that it would be a great idea to post the original photo. I made this out of some images that I took on a trip to San Diego with my father about a year back. anyway I think that it captures the color that you would find on the beaches there.

My Family Photo! Finally

So I've been getting more and more emails and messages about the family photo that I did for my family because supposedly there are a lot of people that didn't get to see that coverage on the insider. So here is the photo of my great family (at least I think there great)... The photo is small because the blogger template column is not very wide and the picture is pretty panoramic so I'm sorry about that.

The story of this picture is that my family wanted to do a new picture now that we have two new additions to the family, Shelby and Emery. So we went to this field and I saw these weeds and I thought "this is perfect!" but I think that my family thought I was a bit crazy. We got out and I put the camera on a tripod but I forgot my remote to get the camera to take the picture so I had to run back and forth for the 10 different shots we took like this. I'm sure it was kind of funny to see if you didn't know what was happening. Despite the embarrassment of running back and forth it turned out great and it even had airtime on the insider.

Danny Gans of 52 Passes Away

This morning, at 3am, Danny Gans passed away in his sleep.

Danny Gans was awarded Entertainer of The Year in Las Vegas for the past 11 years and recently moved his show to the Mirage at the Wynn. His personality on and off the stage was one that will be remembered and missed.

I was very privileged and honored to be the shows photographer for the recent move into the Wynn and thought it would be appropriate to post some photos of this show in honor to him and his family.

This was kind of fun. Chris and I had about 5 mins left till the sun was completely down so we went out a vacant lot and took a few pictures. we didn't have the best of scenery but we made it work. We were running so fast trying to get as much as we could in 5 mins and they all work out great.

Again the color isn't right... I'll see what I can do to fix it and maybe you'll see improvements as the posts continue.

After that there was another baby born and we put her in and her Mom and Dad on the side see if you can tell all the things that were done to this picture before it was completely finished.
